Worm-a-way Model 7003
Mary Appelhof's                    Wormaway 7003
Worm-a-way®
The Worm-a-way® is a simple yet effective system which turns food waste into potting soil (castings) with the help of redworms. Setting up a Worm-a-way® is as easy as shredding newspaper, adding a bit of soil and water, and introducing the worms. After burying kitchen waste in this bedding, worms eat the food waste, bedding and bacteria, turning everything into nutrient rich humus for use in gardens of house plant soils. Odors are minimal because the vents and perforated pipes unique to the patented Worm-a-way® provide an aerated environment. The Worm-a-way® is the ideal worm composting kit for home or classroom use.
Each Worm-a-way® kit includes:
One ruggedly designed, plastic Worm-a-way® vermicomposter with snap-on lid. Manufactured from recycled materials
One 162-page book, Worms Eat My Garbage by Mary Appelhof, a biologist and well-known expert in worm composting
Two easy-to-install ventilation tubes, four tube end vents, and two lid vents
Worm-a-way® assembly instructions and setup guide

Why have worms at home or in the classroom?
Turn garbage into fertilizer and recycle organics back to the earth
Reduce odor in garbage cans
Save energy with worm energy
Reduce need for municipal landfills
Grow worms for fishing
Use worms for science projects
Excellent for year long classroom activities

The larger Worm-a-way® model can handle more waste on a weekly basis (up to 5 lbs per week) than Model 7002. This is fine if you never have to move the bin. After several weeks of receiving garbage, however, it can weigh 65 lbs--much too heavy to carry around. So, if you plan to use your Worm-a-way® as a demo bin and need to move it from one place to another, we recommend that you purchase the smaller size.
